A compassionate team dedicated to the confidential delivery of client-centered health education services that impact the lives of metro Detroit youth by building HIV awareness and creating a system of support.

Monique Green Jones, MPH

Manager of Prevention Services

Monique Green-Jones, MPH has been an employee of Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine for almost 2 decades. Mrs. Jones is employed as a Research Assistant in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences where she serves as Manager of Prevention Services for Wayne State University Prevention (W’SUP) and Project Coordinator for several multi-site NIH funded clinical trials. In her role as project manager/coordinator, Monique has gained expertise in the areas of grants management, intervention delivery, data managment and program evaluation overseeing federal (NICHD, HRSA SPNS, CDC), state (MDHHS) and locally (CHMF) supported prevention programming.

 

Mrs. Jones is a health educator by training whose passion for community-based participatory research (CBPR) afforded her the opportunity to co-author a chapter with Dr. Outlaw in a CBPR book about community-based intervention research with minority young men who have sex with men (YMSM). Her passion for making a difference in the lives of urban youth fuels her daily as she works behind the scenes to ensure the HIV prevention programming delivered by the W’SUP Team is of excellence.

Director of Prevention Services

Angulique Outlaw, PhD

Dr. Angulique Outlaw is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at the Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine. She is also the Director of Prevention Services for Horizons Project, a grant-funded, comprehensive continuum of care program for at-risk youth and youth living with HIV ages 13 – 24. Dr. Outlaw has worked in the field of HIV for over 20 years. She has provided clinical services for children, youth, and adults living with HIV, and has expertise in the areas of academic/service research, intervention development, and program evaluation. She is a pediatric psychologist with significant expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating interventions for high-risk youth utilizing community-based participatory research (CBPR) practices.

 

Dr. Outlaw has extensive CBPR expertise and experience with at-risk and youth living with HIV, authoring a book chapter about community-based intervention research with minority young men who have sex with men (YMSM). She also has experience with multi-site evaluation studies via NIH-funded clinical trials (PI, Co-I), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC; Consortium PI), and HRSA Special Projects of National Significance (PI). Dr. Outlaw is currently the Community Engagement Co-Lead for a site grant to Adolescent Medicine Trials Network (ATN) for HIV/AIDs Interventions (U19 mechanism), and has several locally funded projects (via state and foundation funding) focusing on HIV prevention and testing, referral and linkage; group-level, skills building, HIV prevention programming (primary and secondary prevention), and health promotion for youth and young adults living with HIV.
